About the Assessor's Office:

The primary responsibility of the Assessor's Office is to value and record all real and personal property within the community. Our goal is to assure that property owners are assessed accurately and fairly.

Tax Relief:

Abatement Applications

Motor Vehicle Excise Abatement Application

Application for Abatement of Real or Personal Property Tax

Exemption Applications

Qualified individuals & entities may be able to reduce their tax bill by applying for one of the following exemptions -

Senior Exemption (Clause 41) Application

Blind Exemption Application

Surviving Spouse or Minor Exemption Application

Veterans Exemption Application

Charitable Property Exemption Application

Chapter Land Applications

Chapter 61A and Chapter 61B applications must be filed by December 1 of the calendar year proceeding the fiscal year for which they apply; Peru’s fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30.

Chapter 61 plans must be renewed with the forester every 5-10 years depending on your particular plan. The updated plans must also be submitted to the Assessor’s Office by December 1 of the calendar year proceeding the fiscal year for which they apply.
