Peru has a Swap Shed at the Transfer Station, it is open the same hours that the Transfer Station is open . 

All residents using the Transfer Station facility must have a current valid permit The Annual Permit for FY 2027 cost is $50.00 and comes with #52 free bag stickers, Each bag must have a bag sticker attached to it. Additional stickers are available for purchase at $1.00 each.  Annual Transfer Permits expire June 30th of each year. 

No construction debris should be disposed of in the trash compactor. Separate containers are available for non-household trash and other bulky items or debris. A separate fee will be charged for disposal of these items.

Recycling of paper, cardboard, metal and some plastic is encouraged and is available to all households with a Transfer Station permit. Newspapers and cardboard should be packaged in paper bags or boxes (multi boxes need to be broken down). Newspapers and magazines should not be bundled with string or twine.

Transfer Station Punch Cards :The Town of Peru has adopted a punch card system at the Transfer Station. Cards are used for Bulk Dumpster Items: Freon Charge. Cards can be purchased at the Town Clerk Office. You must have a current Transfer Station Permit in order to purchase a Punch Card.Punch Card Cost- $20.00 Per Card with 20 Punches on Each Card. Cards do not expire.

Trash may only be brought to the Transfer Station during hours of operation under the supervision of a Transfer Attendant.

Anyone using the Transfer Station without a valid Transfer Station Permit is considered dumping illegally and is subjected to a $100.00 fine, Per order of the Select Board.
